Thank you for the review. I've been looking for an upgraded 3wt to use on the small streams here in Central PA. You've sold me on the Superfine and I just placed my order with you. Now I just have to wait for the water to thaw out.

What reels are a good choice for this rod?

Epic Fastglass II 686 is my “go to” fibreglass rod in fresh and saltwater. This Orvis offering looks interesting.

I didn’t see them on the orvis site for a long while and thought they had gotten rid of them. So glad to see them back. Love my 8 wt superfine.

Hey Ben going to be getting the 7’6” 4 weight from you guys real soon I love to fish dries but even more I love swinging small wets and by small my largest wet is probly a #12 in your opinion should the 4 do the trick for these applications and what reel do you have paired up with the rod may have to snag one with my rod purchase thanks for the break down

Don’t put Rio fly line on it. Pair it with the Hydros superfine instead. The Orvis Pro line works great also. I’ve had the opportunity to use the 7’6” 3wt and 6’6” 2wt. I prefer the 2wt personally, I’ve paired it with the Superfine 3wt line. But you can go to your nearest Orvis store and if they have one, they will have no problem taking you outside to test it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Ben: Thanks for the great summary. A few years back I bought the Orvis 7'6" Superfine wt4. What a great rod for small streams. It is just the right length, and with "Goldie Lox" stiffness. (not too hard and not too soft). Lol. It was well worth the money. I was told sometimes rod manufactures design rods to a specific line weight and then scale up or down to produce the other line weight rods. It seems the problem is when doing this you can lose the balance between length and action. Is this true? In my experience it seems like this happens when glass rods at heavier weights, eg, 6 wt. Have you seen this happen with Orvis 6 wt. glass rod? Thanks for all your videos'. I keep buying products from you folks.

Shootout time! This vs T&T lotic vs Scott f series....pretty please!
Btw- have gen 2 butter stick 4 weight and echo BAG 7 weight. Echo is a real fun bass and light salt water rig. The butter stick is great creek and panfish rod. Would love a high quality American made rig though.

How does it compare to epics fast glass ? I fish glass basically for everything even in the surf for stripers. Love the feel. So many great glass rods on the market now especially if you order from smaller companies and rod builders

Appreciate the review. Do you think a half weight heavy line would work if primarily fishing double nymph, or dry dropper set ups with the 3 weight? If so which line would you recommend?

line choice, i would go with a double taper line.

How do the 4wt and 5wt in this line compare/perform?

I love my original 6ft 6in 2wt SF Glass, but I’d be very interested in how this new model compares. Have you tried it yet Ben?

Have you ever tried blue halo glass rods? I got a 7’6” 3wt retroflex in the mail so i’m looking for similar setups and fly line and fly selections i have some Rio 3# “Light-line” with slickcast, with a bauer 3/4 reel

The new SuperFine Glass looks pretty sharp! I had the previous version of the 763-3 and loved everything about it except the tip. It was super soft and delicate, which made for great roll casting or flicking just the leader in tight cover, but swinging soft hackles in a bit of current or fighting fish were real chores for that rod. Do you know if they stiffened up the tip at all on the new 3wt? Thanks for all you do, keep up the great work!

Thanks Ben. When Orvis took the Superfine Graphite Rods away from us and substituted them with the Superfine Fiberglass rods they should have renamed them “Superbad”. They are heavier, with terrible recovery time not recommend for delicate dry fly fishing because you can’t get the tip of the rod to stop wobbling. Please bring the graphite SF rods back! Please!

Or you can go with the best " Epic "

Do a review of the 8wt Superfine for saltwater, you cowards! 😂 All joking aside, I just picked up the 8wt Superfine for bonefish because I wanted something bomb-proof with a bit more delicate it just sounds unbelievably fun to fight bonefish and maybe permit (one can dream) on a nice glass road.
