If I decided on Ethereum Wallet to send with the least gas price available - are they more or less guaranteed to send, albeit take longer? Seems like my 'few minutes' gas price is taking quite a while.

I used ether which was 5gwei for gas transferring 9 populous coins to my ledger nano! It has been 16 hours and it says my transaction is still pending, but when I first initiated it, it said that the transfer was successful and it is on the way! I had reached my buying limit with coinbase and was unable to send anymore ether over for gas and what I had which was the etherium is what I used! Do you know if my coins will eventually show up or are they likely lost? I am brand new to all of this and am trying to learn and educate myself from videos here on you tube! Thanks for any input anyone may be able to offer and thanks for the vids!!!

Does it mean that if I don't specify a gas limit, any amount of ETH I send to a smart contract will be consumed until no ETH is left (0 ETH)?
