Piers loves to be always the contrarian; never know what to expect or where he’s coming from (other than he’s always overbearing and generally rude)! Sometimes I think he’s prime material for “The View.”

The climate activist had all the time in the world to repeat"I think", but when it came to the one denying, she was rudely interrupted and given a few seconds and at the end of the show. That is climate activism in action

However Scotland used to be warm enough to grow grapes in Lothian. Furthermore the cereals that could be grown on Shetland are now no longer possible to cultivate because the climate is too cold I do accept that as islands these areas may have more regional variations than global. However it seems a probably wiser to reduce the poison we’re pumping into the air and pay more attention to our dwindling finite resources

Well I'm only 92 years old, born in April of 1931, and so I can remember when the world I lived in was much colder than now and I wore a thick black overcoat. Eventually I moved to Phoenix, Arizona which was often hot but still livable with just a swamp cooler on the roof, but I understand that now the temperature stays well above 110degrees for days at a time in the summer. In the 1960s I moved to Southern California to escape the ever hotter Phoenix climate and after moving around a bit, wife and I bought a house in the foothills of Mt. Baldy at 2000 ft. elevation. The first winter it snowed several times for 3 to 4 days at a time, and checking local history I found that a century before the little plateau we live on was covered with snow each winter and the orange growers used smog pots to avoid crop freezes, which are not needed anymore, This winter our lowest temperature has been around 40 degrees and we never get any more frost warnings. Unfortunately we now also have several summer weeks where the temp gets over 100. So I know there's climate change because I've experienced it myself. Check the weather data for the last 100 years for Southwest cities if you don't believe me.

Nobody can say for sure what has caused this progressive warming but looking back at the history of the past couple of millennia, statistics show that a much more rapid warming trend began at about the start of the industrial revolution, especially when population proceeded to expand exponentially as it created better working and living conditions, requiring ever more heat for personal warmth and even more energy for transportation. Forests declined as more wood was burned. Coal became a big business. Even whales were decimated for their oil. Eventually petroleum oil was discovered and then things really began to move as this easily extracted and transported fuel became economically feasible. As living conditions improved, population exploded so now we have close to 8 billion humans burning some kind of fuel daily, formerly less than a billion just a few hundred years ago, who then walked or used horses and couldn't fly, and wore warm clothing and hats indoors as you can see in paintings from as late as the 18th century.

All these surplus Carbon Dioxide and other gases accumulate in the upper atmosphere in the form of a dome which constrains heat produced on earth from escaping into space. And the effect now is sufficiently pronounced, and even accelerating, to cause very noticeable seasonally changes in temperature, rain and wind patterns, and especially worldwide melting of stored and seasonal ice. Being 92 years old and not having lost too much memory yet I am well aware of the extent of these changes over my lifetime. I can certainly understand how someone even half my age might not notice. But intelligent young people, who hope to live even longer lives are much more aware of potential catastrophic environmental changes as they plan their futures. I say more power to them! They will be the ones who refuse to "stick their heads in the sand" and deny the obvious that's staring them in the face.

If you got this far, thanks for reading and pardon my mixed metaphors.

Dear Greta, why are you travelling internationally to all of these UN events where the 'utube comments' are switched off and the jet fuel is very, very costly to the guess what??? T H E E N V I R O N M E N T

Global warming is not mankind's only problem.
Modern agriculture is oil dependent 3 ways.
1. The GREEN REVOLUTION produced a range artificial fertilisers and other products that enhance food production by a factor of 3.
An area of land that produced 1 tonne of food now produces 3 tonnes. This enabled mankind's population to explode from 2 billion to 8 billion in only 80 years. These agricultural chemicals are made from oil and gas.
2. Farm machinery is powered by diesel.
3. Transport from farm to our local shops is also powered by diesel.
An oil crisis means global food production will collapse.

There is process to create a summary for policy makers which initially drafted by governments, not y the scientists, there is a subcommittee to do the summary for policy makers and ha gets drafted and passed by the scientists for comment some of them grumble but at the end it’s the governments who have approved the summary for policy makers line by line there is where the disconnection happens.

Piers said "Do you believe the planet is heating up at a dangerous rate?". Naomi didn't say no to the planet hearing up.

No! society is vastly under-reacting to the threat of climate change. Even climate scientists have been alarmed by the recent pace of that climate change is accelerating. Unfortunately, humanity tends to react to a crisis once it happens rather than prevent it. So, that's the future, more climate effects, more people reacting "on the ground" to those effects. And as businesses & politcians as usual downplay those effects. Generally, the same social patterns, but now the climate crisis is gathering pace.

Wow! Let the climate girl rattle on and on, never interrupted her. But as soon as the opposition gets on, cuts her off and talks over her. Bad form news ppl. Shows what side you are truely on.

Girl from Cumbria is sweet and polite. Naomi Saibt... Wow. She's brilliant! I think I believe her version. Can't believe the 2 adults tackled her like that and she dealt with it like a boss! Was also expecting a German accent, but she spoke absolutely clear English. You go girl 👌
