Earlier today we finally had some comments from Square Enix when talking to investors about their thoughts on how Forspoken has performed in the market. Their response was pretty straight forward.

Don't worry, I'm sure they learned nothing and will keep doing it in the future.

Sometimes I wonder if square is intentionally trying to sink their own company

Forspoken was a very good demo. I knew right away not to buy that game.

I mean look at how they did little to nothing for Octopath Traveler 2 in terms of promoting it, it's amazing and looks great but sales are so low since no one knows it is out. Square has a ton of good IPs just need to actually perform on them and push how they do any bigger launch.

I miss the days of Parasite Eve 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 10, Super Mario RPG. That's the Square I want back.

If you look at the business decisions as of late they are extremely confusing. A great example is the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters physical situation. It's sold out. It could have been a massive seller for Square. But whatever. let's just make it a limited release.

If Forspoken was an attempt to appeal to the west, please stop.

Where's that Dragon Quest HD/2D remake at, Square?

I played the Forspoken demo, and didn't think it was absolutely horrible. My problem with it was it feels generic, and not worth the $70. However, I've loved their smaller games like Live A Live, Triangle Strategy, Octopath Traveler 2, Dragon Quest Treasures...etc. They've also, been releasing too many games too quickly I feel as well

I can't believe square is actually doubling down on this block chain and not things

I remember when Harvestella came out I bought and played it on release but it felt like you were the only person in the world, who played the game. At least in my perception there wasn´t anyone on the youtube channels, who really talked about the game after its release. Maybe it was because the farming aspect is pretty average but the story was extensive (round about 50 hours) and not bad in my opinion. I feel sorry for those AA titles because they are often better than it seems to be

Isn't Square Ennix notorious for expecting major returns for expectations.

Square is a shell of it's former self. I hope they can turn it around as they hold some really great IP but they clearly have issues. They have lofty expectations for game sales, put no marketing behind half their games and also got rid of premium IP and studios. I just hope they keep making JRPGs like Bravely Default and Octopath as that's the closest thing we're getting to an old school Final Fantasy game.

Square Enix keeps developing economic models that forecast unreasonable sales, and keeps basing decisions on whether the expectations were met.The high sales forecast is used to justify development costs. This might be a Managerial Finance issue as opposed to a development issue. That's why People Can Fly were annoyed at not getting $ owed for Outriders

This is what happens when you make a AAA game with no target audience in mind. Exactly like Saints Row.

Remember these guys complained the last tomb raider game selling 5.5 million copies wasn't enough alot of those mid sized games have done a million or more and it ain't good enough with almost no advertising
