I was born in 1959 Honolulu. We moved to Kaneohe in 1966. In 1982 I moved to the mainland. Whats cool about living in Hawaii it's like eternal summer there. I 've had friends who moved to Oahu lived there for several years and moved back to the mainland. They said they didn't miss the winters.

I was station in k bay in 1985 for a few years live there not far from the mall love the place use go to kauai a lot

As a person who was born and raised in Kaneohe, and watched the Windward Mall being built, this wasn't a bad list. I have never heard anyone say that it's convienent to get to/from the Windward side. There are three main ways to get to/from the Windward side, but all of them are two lanes each way and the buses take Pali which leaves one lane, and you are going up a mountain which means slower cars. I once dated someone from Waianae, and she said she never came to Kaneohe before and I had never been to Waianae before. People from town just don't usually visit the Windward side, of course things could have changed since I moved away a long time ago.
Also, there are beaches that are close. Kualoa, Ka'a'awa, etc, but we did usually just go to Kailua (even though that's our rivals). The sand bar has gotten huge. It used to be just a pretty small sand bar, I don't know if they put more sand or it grew naturally.
