I just got a QooCam EGO even though I already have an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Not for the video though: for photos! The QooCam EGO can take DNG photos which I can process in Lightroom with pretty good results, and the 65mm IPD makes a much better 3D effect. Plus the two "eyes" are identical. In still photos, the lesser "left eye" of the iPhone is super noticeable (in a bad way).

Thanks for such a detailed breakdown! Which camera produces the best “3D” quality in your opinion? I have heard that because the iPhone 15 Pro lenses are not as far apart as dedicated 3D cameras like the EGO, the 3D effect is weaker?

Thanks for the comparison! One downside to the Ego is the stabilization. You can stabilize the footage in-camera, but this has to be done after recording.

Amazing content! Will it work on meta Quest 3? Do we just have to record with the camera in 3d format, enable developer and all that stuff and just transfer the file to the headset and we are good to use spatial videos? I want so badly a good option to record some good spatial family moments, because i really dont enjoy apple ecosystem. The question I have is not a comparison of "quality" of video between iPhone 15 pro max and this camera but of the 3D difference. I did video in spatial on my iPhone and I did one on my Vision Pro and the 3D level was a big difference as the iPhone video barely looked 3D where as the AVP video was much more of a 3D look. I would assume the EGO camera would do a better job at the 3D than my iPhone 15 pro max. What do you think?

We need a real 3D camera like the JVC ones with auto convergence, auto focus, zoom, LCD display of 3D, Left, Right or Left +Right (for convergence) and a warning for when the parallax is too much, except in 8K instead of 1080p.

Interesting video. However I have both an Apple Vision Pro and an iPhone 15 pro. So the question I need answered is: what software would I be able to use to edit the spacial video I shoot with my iPhone 15 pro?

FYI, though you do require a MAC or iPad Pro 12.9" (with Spatially program) with a M series processor for conversion to Spatial for videos, you can use any MAC (Including Intel based) that runs the latest MacOS to convert Photos from the EGO to Spatial HEIC files that can be viewed on the Apple Vision Pro and most likely the Quest 2/3 with latest firmware update.

The ego can shoot in 3840 x1080 @ 60fps. The quality should be better than the iPhone 15 pro. Do you know what resolution the kando app is converting spatial video to?
