He said unskilled workers, meaning jobs like cleaning, selling tickets, cashiers, not jobs like electrician, plumber, and mechanic, those are skilled workers

Trouble is, Ton, A.I is set to replace cognitive tasks. It used to be that it replaced cashiers, cleaning, etc. Now it will replace code writers, mathematicians, engineers, writers, etc.

Look at what Airbnb did to the hotels. What Uber and Lyft did to the taxi business. What cell phones did to cameras

I'm confident this is why my parents went 110% in on supporting me when I wanted to learn new things. I'm only 36 and I have 25 years of knowledge built up on repairing anything mechanical. I can swap an engine in a car, re-solder a circuit board, build a garage. I also know CAD, CNC programing on mills, lathes, lasers and routers. I took an early childhood learning course and classes on disabilities to learn more about autism to help my son out.
I am addicted to learning. It's been very valuable, and somewhat of an issue at times.

One thing you have to realize is that if 40% of the population is unemployed--then everyone is screwed.

The economy would collapse. Businesses would go out of business. And there would be riots everywhere.

Now I can crap in my house and it goes away.

I have some advice for men that don't have schooling & don't want to be poor forever. Apply to be a UPS DRIVER. Changed my life & will allow my fiancee to retire & raise our babies. What fucking job let's you do that in Canada in 2022 straight out of high-school (well age 21 minimum)

Wait until all the tech people need their homes fixed and can’t find anyone.. price went up to fix that sink tech boy. Skilled labor is more valuable than ever, trades and skilled labor is hard to find in tech areas.

So who is going to put the power lines back up? Agree to disagree.

People need to learn to adapt like they always have. I can't speak for women, but men absolutely need to learn maintenance. Not just cars, houses, etc. The men who will maintain the technology that puts your father out of business will thrive. The technology of the future will break. Someone will have to go repair the wires, replace the hard drives, flush out cooling systems, etc. Those men will be indispensable. Become those men and you will be fine.

And the politicians dodge the questions whenever someone asks: What are we going to do about that?

I can’t wait for tech to fix my sewage 😅

Wouldn't unemployment be 0% for the people making 100k or more? 🤔

This is a very broad assumption about a broad context of people. Keep doing what you’re doing and broadening your skills in whatever you love. 👍🏼

It all comes down to what the market says your skill set is worth, not what you think it is. There are plenty of blue collar jobs that are needed that tech won't replace soon, unless we end up with robotic HVAC repair, electrician, ECT. Imo the hardest blue collar industry that will be hit by tech is customer service industry.

When people say labor they think some easy stuff like factory work. Go be an actual labor you’ll make more than 90% of people with degrees.
