I’ve been messing with the Pultec eq since about 1978 and know exactly how to get what I like out of a track. I own 2 of them. I’ve never actually thought about it, just used them. I saw your video and huh? I never thought about it. I watched and you did a great job. I never thought about it in ways of eq curve, only opening up the top and scooping out the muck. I’ve thought about it as harmonic overtone tube boost but this was a great way to look at it. For the newcomers to the unit, I think it’s great. I don’t know about the plug-in being able or not being able to do tube saturation (harmonic overtone boost) but this was great. You did a great job.

Your right on with the Pultec's and you did a nice job illustrating it in the video. I use the Universal Audio version of the Pultec but it's the same a the Waves version. Extremely musical for sure. A lot of beginners get intimidated by this EQ because there is no graphic like a lot of today's EQ have but once you understand what the controls are really doing, you'll find there aren't many EQ's out there that sound this good. I recommend using a graphic EQ to see whats its doing. Good stuff

Thank you for this well presented inside and the visualization with the r-eq. I own the UAD Pultec, used it a lot but did not really understand how it is working. I just used my ears while tweaking the knobs. Know it "clicked" and I will use it with confidence. I love the sound of it, the colorization is really musical and enhances about everything put through its circuits. Keep up your good work, you really helped me quite a few times and now I feel like I have to say "thank you":-)

This processor ends up on my mix bus more often than anywhere else. It fits nicely almost anywhere low end needs to be generally sculpted but for my uses, it’s best for gently (or not so gently), tightening up and fattening the low end for certain tracks. I think, more than any other EQ, this is one that requires experimentation. Just some “hmmm…low end is a bit flubby…lemme check out the pultec”
