Bruce Timm and company did in 77 minutes what multiple blockbusters failed to do.

The most ironic thing about Batman the Animated Series and Kevin Conroy’s Batman is that despite being animated, this Batman is the most human.

Rest In Peace Kevin Conroy, we’ll never forget you or stop missing you.

He was given the option to bring his parents back as if the tragedy never happened, BUT, all of the crimes he's solved, all the people he has helped and saved, The forming of the Justice league, none of it would ever happen because he would never have become 'The Batman'.. He chose to deal with reality that fate had dealt him rather than the illusion of having his parents back again. His strength of character is beyond most people.

Dude the mask of the phantasm is a phenomal film. I watched the same day I watched the batman and my god they are some of the best batman adaptations we've gotten.

Dude these are so good, I love the part where you talk about the smile fading being a reach and while it probably wasn't a intentional device in moving these messages across, it is still so important. When you can see these things, these miniscule details in something it is a piece of art. Something you can interpret in many ways, seeing things like a fading transition as a fading smile is a brilliant way of looking at things. And while the creator may not have thought of these things it proves that filmmaking is art and a beautiful medium of storytelling that a person can experience and shape for themselves. Amazing video.

As much as I love Christian Bale and currently Robert Pattinson, the late Kevin Conroy is the definitive and the most human Batman even if it is animated.

Love how you say, "save him from becoming Batman" like it's a curse, which it actually is from Bruce's POV, as opposed to a noble crusade which we all generally think it is.

Thanks for your work. Especially the dedication to Kevin Conroy. I can’t read a comic book or have a memory about Batman without hearing his performance in my minds eye.

my favorite scene is with batman and ace of spades on the swing. it shows who he is at his core and how the villains in the universe look at him. how much they really respect him, the powerful ones anyway

First thing, RIP Kevin Conroy.

There is no Pain.
There is no Death.
There is only the Way.
There is only my Will.
or another saying from another Frank Miller graphic novel:
"If you intend to die, you can do anything."
Pretty much sums up Batman.

Superman has no mask and his secret identity is Clark Kent and how he thinks about humans. Batman wears a mask that cover his face. Give a man a mask and you will see his true face.

When I watched this I thought when the Batman turned to Alfred, Alfred he wasn't scared, he was shocked to see what the boy he raised had become. And that he may never come back. I also love to see Mask of the Phantasm get more love, it deserves it. I always viewed it as a great alternate Year One story. Phenomenal video!

To me, Batman is the most iconic character ever. He truly is a reflection of us.

This is some real quality content. I want to pursue screenwriting & directing as a career so these kind of videos rather than the normal how to write-a plot blah blah blah are way more motivating and makes me look really deep into the effort, emotion, philosophy and art which were used make these magnificent piece of work. Videos like this remind why I even chose to be a writer/director(or both) in the first place. I wish you continue to deliver your quality and I want you to know these words typed myself is well-thought and coming deep from my heart. I hope reading this made your day better. Because thank you for making my day better.🙂

With Andrea leaving Bruce, he allowed himself to be embraced by what Batman will become. When he put on that mask, Alfred wasn't shocked because Bruce was scary. Alfred was startled because he saw Batman, the real Batman, for the very first time. Almost as if it was another person, one that is Dark.
Great video.

This is my favorite Batman movie of all time. Kevin nails it, and the fantastic music that accompanies great animated sequences keeps me coming back to it. To have it all culminate him walking away from being Batman only to be pulled right back the moment Andrea leaves him.

Not to take away from Kevin Convoy, but Mark Hamill did his greatest Joker laugh at the end of this movie as well.

Mask of the Phantasm is probably the best and most underrated animated comic book film ever made. Period.
