As someone currently playing as a Troll with regeneration, it might be slightly harder to outright die, but it's far from impossible. In fact, in a party of squishy humans and elves, I'm the only one who has fully died and needed to be raised. Those death saves failing from taking damage will getcha.

Failing 3 death saves from taking attacks or just taking damage past 0 equivalent or more than your max HP would still kill you, but yeah, you’d be pretty hard to keep down

Taking fire damage in dnd is still a pretty common thing.
