In India, China, Thailand and Singapore (Mostly Asian countries) we have the concept of Vaasthu/Feng shui. It means "Building constructed in a good place, good direction". We also won't purchase land/house/rent if it has something negative energy attached to it (Murder/untimely death/kidnapped and never found). You don't need spirits/ghosts to be scared of a building. Negative energy can also affect you.

Traveling Farmer: The grain the farmer worked with got contaminated and formed a hallucinogenic that he unknowingly inhaled. Maybe when it rained or he got to the bottom of a haystack/grain pit would, the toxicity levels rise and affect him. Regarding the travel and shows, his fiance may have been interested in the theatre and talked to him about the various shows she wanted to attend. Potentially an article she received in the mail contained show times and street-view pictures of the theatres that she showed him. Or possibly she or he relatives who sent them postcards with the theaters on the front discussing the next show they planned on attending during their travels. In terms of the two officers, he could have seen them in a magazine or newspaper at one point in his life. Lastly, because he works all the time and doesn't have much money, he may have daydreamed about someday traveling. So, during work with wishes of traveling and the hallucinogenic affecting him, his mind took him to these places and be with the two men.

It's a bit of a stretch, but compromised grain can be toxic, and hallucinogenic do be wild.

Yeahhh I remembered going fishing with my late mother and it was getting dark, gloomy and deafeningly quiet since she has some rules; to focus and don't talk while fishing.

Then I heard some noise. Quietly at first, like children giggling. I looked around and realised that it was just us. And my mother was meters away.

When the sound came back louder, I ran to my mother. Yelling and almost shitting my pants. She came with me to my spot to find where the sound came from.

It turns out that the sound came from some catfish. If I have a heart problem, I would be gone that day 😂
