Adding USB001 virtual printer port when manually installing printer drivers

If you are manually installing your printer drivers on Windows and cannot find the USB001 (Virtual printer port for USB), then consider using this work around to manually specify the port through which your printer is connected to your computer.

useless. if you have already the printer installed, you don't need to do this. Basically, you are creating a local port by connecting by the network to the existing one. If your system is not recognizing the printer, this trick will never work.

The biggest issue people will have is that the USB001 port won't exist, and they'll have to create and configure this. Otherwise, what you are showing is basically how to connect a printer to an existing printer port, which is of little help. In your case, the USB001 port already existed so you're not really "adding" it.

I have the same printer hp laserjet 1018 and I had similar problems, because Windows10 doesn't recognize as printer, but as other device. It seems that the port USB001 only shows up if the printer is already plugged and connected. Make sure there isn't a problem with the usb cable.

Plain and simple it doesn't work this way for a new printer. It only appeared to work and the printer name was available only because the printer in question is already installed. Also, LPT1: is a very old style parallel port for legacy equipment which only works in rare situations. I appreciate your manner of presentation.

An improvement to this video would be to have your pc reflect the state of the viewer's pc, so that it is possible to properly follow along with each step, instead of you having to explain that your pc already has been update (to ignore that fact). Confusing.
