When I am having a bad game, especially unforced errors, I go back to basics. Hit everything down the middle, simple dinks, limited spin, fewer smashes, etc. It gets me back into a good frame of mind quickly and then I slowly start going back to my game.

Court time before a tournament can be challenging, especially to find another 2 (or 1 if playing singles) for a pre-match. However, this is the greatest advice ever to get the jitters over with, as well as to warm up a bit with a real game!! Great video! Thank you!!

Probably 2nd nature to you but in my 3.5 world so many of my wins and losses can be attributed to recognizing when my opponents shots are going out of bounds and then letting them. It is usually my strength and the bangers weakness and accounts for so many points. After some time away with illness I came back and was losing consistently in my comeback almost exclusively because I was not letting the long or wide shots go. It makes a big difference for me if I give my lizard brain the pregame pep talk of letting the hard shot coming at me over waist high sail out of bounds. Kind of a 6th trick in case it helps anyone.

I like your idea to limit what you are thinking about during match play. Too often I am thinking about my swing form but then not getting to the ball early at its apex. I think the far #1 tip was your first tip, focus on your footwork. #2 for me is thinking about targeting my opponents backhand foot. #3, but mostly in tournament play is hit it to the weaker player’s backhand.

I like what you have to say, but I found it hard to focus on what you said because your hands and arms moving up and down was very distracting for me.
