Disadvantages of Moving Abroad & Expat Life

Right now I’m living between the USA and Colombia with this being the first time that I'm living abroad. Most people that relocate to a new country do so for economic opportunities, or personal reasons like love and fulfillment of their wish list.

Usually, the change offers up many advantages, but no place in the world is perfect.

In today's video I am going to discuss the downside and disadvantages of my experience moving aboard, and some things you might expect to experience if you’re seeking a global lifestyle like mine.

Do you want to start a Nurse Staffing Agency?

Do you want to learn how to invest in real estate?

Do you want to invest in real estate with me?

Do you want to buy a house in Italy?

I have recognised that relax work culture in the Italians also. It really shocked my girl when she moved to London and see how much harder people work.

I feel you that with sauces and seasonings. My check baggage always has my survival kit.

completely agree. Colombia food is atrocious. decent ingredients if you have an airbnb to cook but becomes a pain every single day to rely on that. Colombia with international food and spices = unstoppable country

About supermarkets, I will say my mom retired to southern Delaware and recently this area is blowing up. Like literally the population has doubled in the past decade.. as a result, I’ve seen the emergence of Latino foods in their own section at supermarkets here, their first international section if you can call it that. Food selection has expanded greatly the last 3 years but is still quite a shock coming from in of the most diverse cities in the country. As a vegetarian I feel this especially as my selection is still profoundly limited. I’m just pointing out that what you and I are used to is reflective of like the top 10 cities in the United States in terms of diversity, and therefore maybe 90-95% of America reflects the same problems with lack of cuisine options

Karl, thanks for this. I'm here in Medellin also going on 7 years and your analysis & comparisons match up exactly with my impressions and conclusions. You're just the kind of thinker and doer that would make you a target for those who see the US as driven to extremes that dehumanize and exploit others for the sake of money...except that you're not like that at all. You're words are balanced. It's hard to do.

Have you tried shopping for food ingredients in Bogota? The culinary scene there is said to be a cornucopia of quality, creativeness and variety. I am planning to take a restaurant getaway to Bogota to experience it for myself.
Anyway, your video rings true and was a pleasure to watch.
All the best,
Geoffrey in Medellin.

How can I invest in your business and obtain a visa?

Colombia has a few car manufacturing plants for General Motors, Renault and Mazda this reduces import tariffs. Subaru and Toyota do this in the United States.

Hey Buddy those are not disadvantages in my eyes. I’m Colombian and lived in the US for a few years then came back and currently living happily in Colombia. This country is not a melting pot that’s why you don’t find a lot of variety in the cuisine. There’s seafood on the coastal cities like Cartagena, you’re just in the wrong city. This is a people’s culture where people and Socializacion is more valued than money. I can assure you poor people in Colombia are happier than middle class people in the US, even though they lack the money and material things. In the US money is their God. Not here. Doing things for money or giving your life to work is not a priority here. That’s an advantage that Colombians get to enjoy their lives more even with less.
Producing our own goods here in Colombia is also a bad idea unless you want the country to become another US. Take a look at Korea and Taiwan they used to be countries like Colombia. Today they’ve become like the US where people are more concerned with money and advancing their careers than enjoying their lives with family and friends. Is that what you want Colombia to become? A cesspool of money worshipping people like the US? Bad Idea

I like people to keep their feet on the ground, I know some foreigners who live in Colombia and sometimes I think they are going crazy, maybe it is some syndrome, some people do not know self-control and delirious with a life of science fiction.

11:30 you could definitely make another video on Neo Capitalism that effects the majority of developing countries which is why many people flee to the United States.

Colombians have no concept of time. If you are from the U.S or certain European countries time is money and focus is on time and production. No such concept in Colombia

This is why I unsubscribed from this channel. Life is about family, & community, not "making money, & getting things done." This guy is a slave to $$$, & needs to learn to love where he 'is', or go home to New York City.🤔 Chill out, dude✌
