Great video. It doesn't do anyone any good to only state the positive and never the negatives. That just leads to a big let down. Especially when you have people moving site unseen.

Thanks! that's really helpful. I appreciate your candor. I love Mexico, but every place has it's good and not-so-good. It's nice to hear straight-up talk about this topic.

I just want to mention that I've tested the tap water in every country I've visited and Croatia had the best water to drink out of the tap. Serbia was very good too. The Adriatic sea separates Italy and Croatia and the water flow goes north and dumps all the dirt and debris up in Italy near Venice, and then clean water flows back down on the Croatia coastline. That's why the coastline on the Croatia side is so crystal clear, and when tested is just as clean as the tap water. But, even in Slovenia, their water comes naturally from the mountains.

Thank you a million times over for doing your research and providing many of us with vital contacts via Mexitlist to facilitate the immigration process from A-Z, movers, plumbers, electrician, car rental, and restaurants for expats seeking to move to Merida. This is so amazing given when you're considering moving abroad and many have to research on your own everything from immigration process, contacts for moving, rental, home purchase, and how to navigate on a daily basis. Monte you are a blessing to many of us expats seeking to move abroad and providing us with so much vital information. I have lived and travelled abroad and there are some awesome countries for expats to consider but for me personally Merida will be home very soon. Blessings to our brothas and sistas as they leave the plantation for peace of mind, better opportunities, and enjoying life abroad. Blessings.🎉

All those illnesses from mosquitoes, wow. There are a few things we've used in Florida. A spray bottle with peppermint or Lavender oil and water, Vicks on your clothes, just a touch. Skin So Soft by Avon, Put Listerine in a spray bottle. I hear mosquitoes are drawn to blood type o and people who eat lots of sweets.Hope this can help someone.

Thanks for mentioning Tesla. I have a Model 3, and I was hoping to keep it when I eventually move down. I know Tesla is building out its supercharger network down there, but its good to know that there's a dealership also.

Thank you very much for sharing that information that is very important to know I mean this is not something that they would tell you on brochures or anything so it's really good to get this kind of info ahead of time thank you once again

Thanks for sharing Monti. I think your channel is a hidden gem. No place is 100% perfect. However, if the quality of life is better than the US, we'll I see it as you found a new place you can call home.

Thanks for the info... I have been looking at a few Mexican cities to live and Merida is one of them. One thing that concerns me about Merida is the heat. I've checked the average temps and it seems to be sweltering heat in the high 90's all year round. I have to get down there and experience it myself, but what are your thoughts on the heat in Merida?

I just thought of something😁 The next time you guys go to Europe, check out the town of Ljubljana in Slovenia and go to Lake Bled as a side trip. Of all the countries/cities I've visited Ljubljana was the best of the best. Once covid19 slows down, I'll be back over there. You can walk around anytime at night.

You talk about earnings being so low but don't mention you need a resident visa to work or that you can't take a job a Mexican citizen can do.
The 4 people on a motorcycle is illegal now. There is also a letter you can carry that you can show to the police that lets you off for the first infraction for Quintana Roo. For Mérida there is a phone number for the police supervisor that speaks English in case you are pulled over.
No direct flights to Mérida except those you mentioned but it is easy to get from Mexico City to Mérida every day. There are many flights.
You should mention that outside of tourist areas Spanish is the language spoken by everyone. You can struggle through with Google translate but it is best if you learn. Mine is still bleak but I am moving from Yucatán to Culiacán Sinaloa soon. In Culiacán I never saw another gringo but never felt uncomfortable because everyone is so friendly.

The technology point is such an interesting one. I went to the Dell Mexico site out of curiosity the other day and I wanted to scream. It hasn't even been updated to the latest Dell branding and usability standards... as a UX person it was hard to get past that to even dive into the product availability 🤣

But seriously, I wonder how much of the tech lag is because of a real lack of demand or a US-centric view of tech markets driving a perceived lack of demand.
