"What language should I learn?" If you're inspired to start studying a language - congrats! If you have NO idea what language to learn, don't worry! I made this video to help you decide what language to learn. In this video, I ask 6 questions to help you determine what language is the best fit for you. At the end of the video, I also go over the "easiest" languages to learn for native English speakers. Remember, language learning is NEVER an easy process, but some languages may present more challenges than others during the process. I hope this helps you narrow down what language you want to start studying and be sure to check out my other videos for study tips! Happy studying!

Follow your bliss 🥰I'm learning 3 languages. The "most useful" one is probably French, but I have a love and passion for my other languages (and reasons why I'm learning). As long as you have your reasons that keep you inspired and feel the love that's all what matters. Thanks for sharing 💕

Usually, if a girl or a boy I'm interested in knows or learns a certain language, I'm going to learn a bit of the language to have some common topics to talk about.

I learn only languages whose sound I like. If I really want to learn it I will spend thousands of hours listening to that language. Meaning if I don't like its sound I won't be able to learn it even if it's a lamguage that is close to my mother tongue German.

It sucks being a native english speaker in a very monolingual place because I have no "use" for learning a second language

I'm lucky to have grown bilingual with English and Spanish, and at school I had French for 9 years (learned absolutely nothing) but it gave me good base to pursue it later up to B2 without it feeling too foreign. I took 3 years of Mandarin because I wanted Japanese and my high school didn't have it but when I got to college I went for 3 years of Japanese because it's the love of my life. I'm currently learning German because I'm planning on living in Germany to work as a doctor 🥰

Thank you for making this video. May 1st 2019, at noon, my entire trajectory in life (age then 57) changed, most probably forever. I´m from Charleston, SC, poverty-based education, graduated high school very stupid and näive. Moved to Florida, got a clue, became an Engineer and today, I´m autodidactic with a high IQ/EQ. Back to topic, SPANISH, with it´s purity of phonetics mixed with its super complex verb directions and vastly unique power of expression became a pure obsession. 22 months later, I have CREATED, from one word, an active vocabulary list of 12, 000 in-context equivalents between Spanish and English, superior to anything I´ve encountered for sale at any price. Love is like that. I came here to try and force a decision about a next-language and you´ve clearly reminded me that I married Spanish. I still love her sound as much as the day I met her and I only have ears for her. Instead, I´m digging deeper my two languages because, there are layers so deep, only stoics and poets dare to venture. I´ll test for C1 with Spanish but, it won´t stop there. I hope you are in Italy right now and LOVING LIFE to the fullest! Joy to you!!

I totally relate Shea. I am learning French with a very low prospect of actually visiting a French speaking country. However, I love the challenge, the culture, and the music. And I can always find people online to practice speaking. Like you, I have been told that French is not useful but I haven't let that stop me.

Tip: make sure you have or can find somebody to practice preferable from the car to your learning the language from.

Bilingual: Japanese and English. grew up listening to music from around the globe. Italian, German and Russian/French especially. Learning Italian though very slowly as I've always loved Italian especially since I love the food, culture, history and the sound of the language when spoken
Hope to be living there one day 🤞

I’ve been learning English for 6 years and Korean for 2 years so far. I’m thinking about learning a new language but seriously have no idea about it. That’s why I clicked on this video, but it still didn’t give me the perspective or the clues I actually need. I don’t feel that strong connection with any other language that could motivate me to not stop learning it but at the same time I KNOW that I HAVE to start learning a new one!!😭😂 that became really complicated..

Well that's an interesting point. I started learning Italian because I'm Argentine and I descend from Italians :) Also since Spanish and Italian share the same Latin roots, it's easy for me to learn it! Awesome video as always Shea.

Sono cinese, I think Mandarin is hard too. I’ve learned English by myself and I can speak it quite well. Now I’m learning Italian. Yea many people ask me why I learn a language that might not be “useful”. I just like that country so much, the culture, the art, the music, the food, the architecture and the people. I’m not sure whether I will live in Italy, but I will definitely go there. I might have more opportunities if I can be fluent in Italian. Who knows;) learning Italian is a way to connect to to the country I like. I feel close to Italy by learning its language. But Italian is a real challenge for me because the grammar structure is completely different and the grammar is way more complicated than Chinese. Your videos are of great help. Keep following. Thank you Love ya.

oh, that is lovely that you are of Italian heritage too! Forgive my biase. as you look quite Scandinavian upon first glance with your gold hair =) I liked your tip # 2 with, if you ever visited a place and absolutely loved it, you know that language and culture would be a great fit for you. Thank you for giving me so many great things to ponder and consider!!
