What to Expect on Your Driver's Test | Driving Lessons

So, the subject today is what to expect on your driver's test. And before we get into some of the actual test, what I want to tell you is to make sure you're on time and to make sure you have the proper documents that you need. You have to have your learner's permit, and your pre-licensing class certificate, and the driver that brings you there has to have their driver's license, the car registration, and the insurance card. If you don't have any of those documents you will not be given the test. So you don't want to waste your time by going there without that.

Now, what do we expect to do actually on the test? And the test is comprised of a series of turns and two maneuvers. You're going to do some right turns, and you're going to do some left turns across traffic. And then you're going to have to execute what we call a broken U-turn. Which means bringing your car from the right side, across to the other side of the street, backing up, and then going back the other way.

And then finally, you'll have to do a parallel parking, which means bringing the car alongside of another vehicle and backing it into the space. It isn't real difficult. The whole test takes about ten minutes.

So hopefully what I've outlined here are some good, solid ways on knowing what to expect and how to execute it and hopefully it will get you through and help you to pass your driver's test.

I've watched several how to pass drivers test video's and this was the best on the road test demonstration. I got my my license today and what was showed in this video was at least 80% of what I had to do on my test. Thank you!!

Parallel Parking isn't required anymore. They took it out like 2 years ago, now most tests require a back in park and a k-turn.

My road test was super easy and was only 5 mins long, my instructor was like take a right, take a left, take a left, park here do a three point turn, go back to the RMV, parallel park in the cones. That was literally it.

Tip on parallel parking: Don't try the Tanner Foust style handbrake drift parallel parking, even if you get it right, you'll fail. Found out last week myself -_-

I'm taking mine on Monday in Oklahoma, which just brought back parallel parking.

You also need to know your car controls (hi beams, hazards, turn signals, etc) at least over here.

My test is tomorrow and I'm so nervous! Supposedly the DMV where I'm taking my test, the instructors are very rude and want to fail you in any way possible... Wish me luck!

I think drivers tests need to be for the old, not just 16 years olds. I think it would be a good law to have old people starting at 55 get rested and the every 5 years after prior since reflexes etc go downhill.
