Is Air France Business Class a chic experience?

I flew Air France Business Class from Paris to Dubai to see how chic the experience was. Did the French national carrier provide a good service? Was the food and wine as good as a French restaurant? And was the seat comfortable?
I flew on 8 November 2024 from Paris Charles de Gaulle to Dubai on flight AF658 or a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
This was part of a round trip from London to Dubai, to see if an indirect route was cheaper and still as good as the direct services offered by British Airways, Emirates and Virgin Atlantic.

I really appreciate the map/graphic showing where you arrived, the lounge, and the departure gate!

Let me know what you think of the Air France Business Class service. Would you be tempted to fly indirect to save of the fare?

another top notch review. All said, I would fly direct and epect the bells and whistles of lounge access etc etc. I don't have status and would be irked by lack of access. The transit in Paris would be irksome for me when there is a direct option. BC travel isn't really that compatible with saving money and time is often of the essence. Thanks again

A great review add interesting comparison with more costly but direct alternatives - thank you! Flying indirect is something I do regularly, both to fly on preferred airlines (I now avoid BA wherever possible) and usually also make a saving. Air France used to do a great and far better value service to J'burg on its A380s, which was certainly worth going via Paris.
Your's is probably the worst experience of AF's business product - I totally agree about their lounge - it's been poor for years and is quite the step down from their La Premiere lounge, which is up there with the best in the world.
I was surprised to see so little choice of food options on board - AF's F&B offering is usually top end.
Even with its faults, I don't know how anyone could justify paying ~50% more for Virgin's very average business product, even with the inconvenience of having to connect in Paris.

I would have turned down the starter and desert too... I prefer flying direct rather than taking layovers but I know it is not always possible. I can save money but the time, fuss and all the changes put me off. If there is a direct flight I will always take it.

Graphic has an error for CDG and should show 08R. It shows 08L twice.

A BC ticket doesn't allow access to the BC lounge. What?

Can’t say I was wow by Air France service and I thought the lounge look worse than the BA lounge. The on board food was great.
I’d not recommend AF
