The Economy in east Germany isn't that good because of the Reunion of east and West. I live in Brandenburg (East Germany). After the re-unio, West-Germany founded the "Treuhand" which deleted Like 70% of the east German Economy. Still today there are many abandoned fabrics, which the Treuhand closed.
30 Years ago, Helmut Kohl, Former Chancellor of Germany promised beautiful Landscape to east Germany. Now, everything Looks boring and abandoned. The GDR was a dictatoric Republic, but pretty much everything was better then, except freedom. Which ist why the protestants 1989 did Not want a German Union, but an Open GDR with freedom of speech and democracy
