For anyone watching and going to do this repair, do yourself a favor and buy the Ge Dishwasher Pump To Wash Arm Rubber Connector and the lower spray arm support. Those things stuck together and wound up breaking the rubber connector to get the support out. If I'd had both parts handy, would be easy to finish. Now I'm waiting on the rubber connector to ship.

You do NOT have to remove the dishwasher and access the bottom! The spray arm base is a threaded piece and will come out from above. I flooded my kitchen attempting this tutorial (my fault; apparently I don’t know how water lines work) and finally gave up & called a technician.

He was in & out in 15 minutes. There is a tab in the lower spray arm base (way less flimsy than the one in the spray arm itself, don’t worry!) that you have to press in to remove the old part. The new one threads right in.

Hope this saves someone a lot of blood sweat & tears.

Very helpful video. Removing the base from the rubber connector was very difficult. Ended up removing the pump for additional clearance, removing the springs that close the door, clamping the rubber to 2” PVC pipe, and twisting both the inside the dishwasher part of the base and the PVC on the outside. Everything else was as easy as the video shows.

Like everyone has said here, getting the pump connector off is extremely difficult. Here's how I did it: completely disconnect the pump, then reattach the pump to the pump connector, and use the pump to turn the pump connector. Doing this made it very easy to get the pump connector off.

For people having difficulty getting the rubber rubber pump connector unscrewed, get a belt and loop out around the rubber, pulling the end of the belt backwards over the buckle (not through the second loop, just the first one), making sure you're pulling counter clockwise. I already had the whole motor assembly off to try to make it easier to pry on it but it just wouldn't move. Maybe you can leave it on there to wrap a belt around it, but it's only a couple more clamps and pulling the two sets of plugs to get it fully off.

Again, not looping the belt through like you would normally wear it. Loop it through the first loop, and pull it backwards.

Mine just unscrews at the base of the support without having to take anything apart. Thank God!!

Every single video showing you how to do this makes it look easy as pie to unscrew the rubber connector for the spray arm base, and i dont know why, because it's impossible to unscrew.

Is there an easy fix for a broken tab? Is the tab all that necessary? Will the spray arm not work if the tab is broken? Is there any chance it will fly out during the wash or not fully wash your dishes? The tab is a little flimsy so I just feel like there could be a quick fix that doesn't include all of this hard work.

Hi is there a metal washer underneath where the spray arm clicks in? I found a loose metal washer and I'm not sure if it goes where the ball is supposed to be or if it goes under the sprayer arm I hope you can help. 🙃😧

Figured I'd post my solution for getting the plastic to rotate. Mind you, you still need to have this flipped on its side and to be able to see the bottom of the plastic piece. What I did was take needle nose pliers, break off a piece of the plastic that flares out. That will allow your pliers to grip the Inside of the hole while being flush against one of the flat plastic vertical pieces. now you can rotate the pliers and "push" against the flat piece, allowing better rotation onto the piece. hope this helps anyone.

EDIT: Turns out it still didn't want to come out. a few of things I did to finally get it loose: noticed gunk from the bottom and sprayed it all out. didn't budge. went in the inside of the tub and used a serrated knife to cut into and near the threads. once I had a little gap, I used a screwdriver to start flexing the threaded area. it seemed to work, because it was noticeable easier to spin. went underneath again and was able to pull the rubber piece out.

The rubber gasket that you unscrew by hand will not budge at all… is there any way to get this thing to move?

Can you take the spray arm apart to clean inside it? I saw a lot of black deposit through small holes on the spray arm. Thanks!

In the video it looks easy, but a while ago I tried to replace it and the rubber part never turned, it didn’t matter how strong I turned it, I believe you have to buy the rubber part with this part together, because the customer will not want to wait so long

So the rubber gasket, the piece to remove before removing the old support, will NOT budge. Any tips? Tried turning, pulling, pliers....

Any tips to get the rubber pump connector to unscrew? The lower arm support is now spinning with it but they won't separate.
Any ideas?

When I used a wet vacuum, it pulled out a washer and a small ball. Where did they come from? Thanks
