You forgot the part where the "friendly" npc completely ignores the enemy units and will just go straight at you.

This actually happened in World of Warcraft. Someone dragged a World Boss to Orgrimmar where the Capital Leader and thier elite entourage proceeded to beat the sh*t out of it. Many players died. It was great.

Plot twist: most of the guard's strength was from the players consistently luring him to beat the final boss and him leveling up from that

This is why the player should at least swing his sword at the boss.

Fun fact: in elder scrolls online, you can lure guards in Northern Elsweyr to the spawn points of a couple overworld bosses and dragon arenas, where they will kill them in 5 hits doing exactly 20% of their HP every time.
