Running a dehumidifier helps to take the load off the air conditioner by helping to remove the humidity.

Here is my suggestion as well, 1. Use the reflective on the outside of the window, i use the command Velcro stripes to secure my pieces on all my windows, leave a air gap. 2. the skylight i actually use Reflective on both sides (inside & outside.). 3. in Arizona HEAT, I use again reflective on the top of my slide out toppers, cut it to fit, and hold down with clamps. 4. I also use 24 inch wide reflective all the way from roof to bottom, on my refrigerator side as well, one long strip. you might think I'm crazy but i add reflective on top of my ac unit, but don't cover the airflow. you will be amazed at the temp changes with these Ideas. all are cabinets / even our closet is lined with Reflective (((YES I USE REFLECTIVE LIKE CRAZY BUT WHAT THE HELL IM COOL. NOTE : I BOUGHT A 12 VOLT FRIDGE to replace our old propane/electric Norcold best money spent

Pro tip for the skylight above the shower instead of dealing with your reflectix constantly falling bc the humidity ruins the adhesive take off the internal skylight cover and put the reflectix in there and put the cover back on. Made a world of difference for me

Great info. Reflectix is the bomb! We found that our upper cabinets were radiating a lot of heat, so we lined them with reflectix. Made a Hugh difference.

We’ve learned a lot over 2+ years of full time RVing, and a lot of it has been about staying cool in hot temps. We love RV life but the battle with heat can be rough. What tips do you have for staying cool?

A better tip would be to keep more food/drinks in your fridge because more cold mass will cause the fridge to work less once everything is cooled.

Thanks for all the info! Never thought about keeping fridge cooker, I put reflectix up above the my fridge ( on outside of fridge) because of the heat from fridge. Will that mess up my fridge?

Excellent tips! These will definitely help. I'd never thought of using freezer packs and fans in the fridge. Something we will definitely do once we get our camper. Thanks for sharing!

Great suggestions. Our favorite way to stay cool is stay away from hot places! It’s not working so well for us though. We’ve been in the 90s in Oregon. 🥵 We might have to try some of your tips. 🙏

Best tip I’ve done is get a water sprinkler and hook it up during hot periods to keep the outside of camper cooled off

I tinted my windows and upgraded my ac to. 13, 000 btu unit but were still cooking when its over 100

The problem with the soft start and the rv air flow, is that they are too expensive for what you get. The airflow is a piece of Styrofoam for $200 (you'll need two of those: one for each air conditioner) REDICULOUS! And the soft start is almost just a capacitor that will run you almost as much as the air conditioner itself. (Again, you will need two of them).
