What Are Symptoms of ADHD? | Child Psychology

The symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, fall into three different categories. There's inattention, there's impulsivity, and there is hyperactivity.

What we notice about inattention is this is the child who fails to pay close attention to details, who may make minor mistakes on homework and assignments. It's the child who doesn't quite hear information clearly enough or doesn't follow directions.

When we think about impulsivity, we think about the child who has trouble waiting in line, or the child that interrupts during conversation, or who has trouble following rules and taking turns when they're with their peers or others.

A hyperactive child is a child that seems like they're running with a motor. In the instance that they can't keep still. They're always moving. They're up and about touching things. Sometimes classroom teachers may complain this is the child that can't stay in their seat.

While these symptoms of ADHD are not inclusive, these are some of the important key factors that you might see in a child with ADHD.

my brother has ALL those symptoms but my God my parents ignore the fact that he has ADHD. there was even a time my mother received a school letter that she take my brother to the school psychologist but my parents just didnt bother.

i have ADHD and i cant work i take medication and ill tell u what it freaking sucks! i was diagnosed when i was 3. i am now 20

Im not saying that I have adhd but in grade 5 I had to get a wiggle seat because I couldnt sit still and I always got distracted

Try telling that to the kid with severe ADHD denied meds all his or her life. They're probably addicted to weed by now (many ADHD patients self-medicate with it and become psychologically addicted).

If ADHD doesn't exist then nether do autism, dyslexia and depression - as they all meet the same criteria. You should research psychology a little bit more before you make statement like these.

I have ADHD, but it's kinda like i just tap all the time, and i lose focus really quickly. But it was before all this bullshit that doctors make because i don't really need meds for it it's just something that a shit ton of caffeine takes care of.
