Trigger wanted to make anyone happy.

Rosso wanted to save anybody.

The Kaiju aren’t villains. It’s specifically stated at the beginning of the movie! Ultraman’s job is to protect the people, but also stop the Kaiju WITHOUT KILLING THEM! That’s why Ken’s dad got mad at him over killing the Gigantron, course at the time he didn’t know it was still alive, nor did he know about Emi, but still! Clearly the Kaiju have their reasons for attacking, but KDF doesn’t care. Ken’s dad just wants to protect the people, but also the Kaiju, cause he knows they aren’t evil at heart

My brother suggested that the Kaijus were attacking/present was because maybe they used to live in that city before it even was a city and want to reclaim it for their own once more. Kinda like in Godzilla but that's just a theory

In the original Ultraman, there's a place in space called the Monster graveyard, where dead bodies of monsters are put there after Ultraman defeats them

The SSSP, the kaiju defense team in this iteration, host a funeral for all the dead monsters, because in actuality, it's not always the monster's fault that they were harming people, like Jamila, who was a mutated astronaut that came back to earth in extreme pain, or Gomora, who was taken away from its home by people

Don't let this guy watch Ultraman Cosmos. He's probably gonna be mad at Musashi and Ultraman Cosmos not defeating the Kaijus all the time. And gonna be really confused as to why they trying to calm down the Kaiju first instead of killing it!!!

Also you need to remember that most of these Kaiju are still technically animals it's just they don't really belong in modern day Earth. They're way too big and way too destructive for mankind. I'm pretty sure some Ultraman shows bringing up this "Kaiju aren't monsters they're just animals" Topic.

Kaiju is just like any other animal while scary some of the aren’t a threat they just scared. Yes there some that will destroy anything in it’s path cause their mindless and yes some kaiju will attack in self defense. Seto see kaiju as animals while dr Oda see kaiju as monster with no remorse. Not all kaiju need to kill on site. If you need examples I’ll try to remember the ones I know mostly the newer ones.

Ultraman tiga in one episode a big pig like kaiju in farm fleld the farmer want it dead tiga turn the kaiju small to a regular size pig.

Ultraman cosmos is literally the peace keeper kaiju that can kick butt one episode cosmos was protesting a kaiju that hatch from a giant egg few 500 years and only live for 6 hour. Government wanted it dead on site.

Ultraman Z(zett) was fighting a pair of red kings(don’t ask why their not red) and kill the father red king only than realizing afterwards the pair were only trying to defend themselves when construction destroyed their home and were very close to the baby egg.(edited)

In short kaiju are creatures that are hard to understand and sometimes Ultraman had to make those hard choices even killing the kaiju.

It's confirmed that the original Ultraman's from their home planet, and being keepers of peace they shouldn't pick sides.

Ken's mum is a part of KDF and humanity and Ultraman worked side by side just fine, Onda's loss is a tragedy that could befall anyone but since imperfect parents' the whole theme it's integrated into peacekeeper/guardian trope.

I suggest you check out Ultraman Cosmos for similar concept of Ultras not out for blood with the Kaiju rampages.
