So many golfers say they hit the golf ball brilliantly and swing great on the range, but they don’t seem to take those shots or that swing out on to the course with them. Being on the range seems to deliver completely different results to those experienced out on the golf course. So in this video Natalie Adams from Smash Factor Golf Coaching, shows you the best way to practice when you next go to the range and stops you falling into really bad practice habits that will ruin your on course play. Take an insight into how to structure your golf practice sessions most efficiently, so that you get the most out of your golf training session and so that you see those results the next time you are out on the golf course.

I finally got round to following this advice on the range today. I ca usually get through 100 balls in 30-40 minutes, but today I had top tracer and did as you suggested and didn’t put the balls in the tray. I also only had two clubs (3wood and 5 iron) and kept a note of all my yardages. It was great fun and extremely productive. Thank you for your videos they are really helpful. 😊

Thanks Nathalie, I’ve only taken up golf a few months ago . I love your videos and find them extremely easy to follow . This video is great because I was that guy smashing golf balls all over the range and then wondering why I wasn’t improving when I went to the golf course 😂👍 I’ll defo take what I learnt here to the range later . Thanks Rob .

Great tip Natalie. It is amazing how quick people fire off a bucket of balls. For me I have about 60 - 80 balls. Then split it down to a certain amount each club, and focusing on a specific target. I have a Garmin G80 (other makes are available), which has a range function. I can see estimated carry distance and roll out. It also gives me a tempo rhythm, so I try and get that hitting the same number and try and remember how the strike felt.

This is good advice. This is how I do the majority of my range practice. I will also do a simulated round. Hit a 3 wood simulating a tee shot and then perhaps a mid or short iron to a smaller target. If I miss my fairway target, I punish myself by taking a longer club for my second shot. It's also important to go through your full pre-shot routine, just as you would on the course. I always practice shaping the ball left to right, right to left, hit some low, hit some high, etc. At the end of the bucket I'll save 10-12 balls to hit my wedges. The only time I hit the same shot over and over is if I'm working on something very specific following a lesson. But I usually limit that to no more than half a bucket (a bucket at my local range is 65 balls).

Yes Natalie you are correct I'm going to only bring 36 balls to the Range and play an imaginary 9 holes on my course, I'm going to hit balls with a purpose like I'm out playing 9 holes instead of beating the daylights outta myself and that Bucket of 72 balls, but its gonna be tough at first because it's like telling someone they can only have one M&M candie at a time until the whole bag is gone, gonna be tough at the first practice.
