You forgot the most important one. You have to objectively observe. Sherlock doesn't observe based on his emotions, prejudice, or his ego. He just observes. It's a lot harder than it seems.

Charisma doesn't just come every day, he probably is proud or happy of something he or his close friends/family members have done, thus he hugged someone! Its highly likely he is well off financially because even if he loves his wife or not he wears the expensive ring, we meet him in the evening and the faint of perfume is still on his coat it can be he is a manager and sits in the office all day hence still has the scent on his coat or it can also be re hugged a female coworker.
