Path of Exile 2 Vaal Orb Trick (Get 5 Spell Sockets EARLY)

Using Vaal orbs to boost your sockets early in path of exile 2 is one of the biggest damage boosts you can get, and you can do this extremely early in the game if you get lucky! The best part? You can still level up your gems!

This should've been so fucking obvious to me as a poe1 player that I can't believe I've missed it.

For those of you don't know, in poe1 vaal orbing a gem can have several outcomes:

1: a level 20 gem gets pushed to lvl 21 and surpasses the max limit of 20
2. a 20 quality gem gets 23 quality and surpasses the max limit of 20
3. Turns into a vaal version of the skill gem which uses souls instead of mana to unleash about 5 times stronger skill (which seems like there's none in poe2)
4. Nothing happens and it just gets corrupted.

So now that gems have sockets, it makes sense that one of the options adds a socket

Wouldn't you rather wait to Vaal after you have increased the quality on them? Quality often has really good bonuses on the gems and can dramatically increase their damage.

Tried this 7 times and got 1 that increased quality to 6% but no bonus sockets on any of them. RNG sucks on this.

Nope. That’s far too risky early game. The RNG to hit must be incredibly low.

i did it on my 2nd try corrupting gem, i have question i can only corrupt it once right? if you already have +1 socket, you can't have another socket with the same corrupted gem?

Bad idea, corrupting gems stops you from being able to add quality, short term gratification is never better than long term achievement.
