First Lady speaker is lying. Most countries were not consulted about CAI as it was sprung up on them suddenly by Germany and France and rushed through. They needed this to keep up their business w/ China who suddenly after 7 years decided they must get something going w/ Europeans before they would get a chance to think about it and coordinate with USA. More Volkswagens produced in China are sold around the World than those made in Germany - that’s all you need to know about what happened and why. On the surface Germany plays the game of always supporting human rights and all other good causes, underneath they pursue their geopolitical goals and are pretty hard nosed about it. I don’t blame them but let’s cut the bullshit. They do what they need to do to maintain trade since 30% of their GDP is exports. For the US this number is 8% - get it now? EU=Germany= Mittle Europa (a concept first introduced by Bismarck in 1870-ties).

For wishful thinker, sky is the limit. China uses myriad of regulatory, administrative, written and mostly unwritten rules to limit foreign competition. The only reason China rushed to sign on CAI is to split western democracies to form an unified position on China. They have never abided by any international treaties it has signed, and definitely not going yo start now.
