The only concern is, its not possible to burn the engine for 90 mins against this level. That's what they were waiting for, even Kroos says it in his interview. We cant only play for 45 mins, there has to be periods in matches where we can also grab our breath. All this being said, it was a joy to watch us get beat 3-0

After watching the goals again my assessment jnr's goal, if that's Ralston hes sliding right through the ball then the player. 2nd 1 cant really do much but the 3rd was preventable.
Still gave a good showing of ourselves and its still only phase 2 of Angeball.
Players should all be very proud of themselves on a different day we win that game.
On to Livingston now for the next test. Hopefully we can give Calmac a rest and we can get a look at the big Dane!

You cant press for 45 minutes let alone 90 and not give up easy goals on the counter attack when you inevitably run out of gas early, against any decent side, let alone Real Madrid.
Some players looked like they belonged at this level... notably CalMac and Hatate. GG struggled with his lack of technical ability to hold up the ball and was ineffectual. For some perspective, Dinamo Zagreb defeated Chelsea, so we should never be satisfied with losing 3-0 at home.

I didn't mind the analogy (Michael Owen!) of it being like a boxing match - trying to knock out the champion in the first 6 rounds and expending lots of energy and coming close, but the champion taking it out in the later rounds. Celtic had a punchers chance in the first half and will hopefully take the learnings and take out Leipzig and Shaktar to progress further.

I'd keep my fullbacks tucked in when playing against the best players but allow them free reign when the chance presents itself. 1st goal was a hard one to take as nobody was anywhere near vinicious jr until it was too late.

Playing a certain way that is just full on and all pace is a good strategy but we have to be able to adapt to a game because every game is different.

Real Madrid knew they just had to wait out the first 30mins and let Celtic run out of steam.

Then hit us in the 2nd half with everything they have.

Adapting to our opponents is a much better strategy than being a one trick pony team.

We can pull that off with dummy teams like Rangers but not world class teams like Real Madrid or any of the other big European teams.

We need to be able to adjust our tempo accordingly or we will just overshoot our target more often than not.

Missed 5 chances, can't beat quality with misses like that but our vulnerability with counterattacks at pace with be exploited by other teams.
