Professional surfboard DING REPAIR - Quick video -

Just a short video on a rail ding fix. The repair was all done on one day. The board hadn't been surfed in a while so the foam was dry. NEVER fix a ding that is still wet as this will only cause more issues. No spray cover up was asked for, so what you see is just the straight resin and q-cell filler. This is a poly resin fix.

Nice Job! I have one question though:
Please tell me where I‘m wrong!
If you sand the epoxy filler flush with the board, then apply two layers of fiberglass you should have a small bump where the new patch is right?
If you again sand it flush afterwards, don’t you take away all the new fiberglass as it was „on“ the boards shape?
Intuitively I would sand the epoxy filler down so that it is a bit „lower“ than the board. This way I won’t sand all the fiberglass of just to get it flush with the rest again.

Great video mate, can you do a cracked tail, or particularly a chipped or cracked swallow/twin next time ones in. Always hard to get right so it doesn’t crack again.

Great video!! i have a question, why is resin tints preferred over just painting the foam? wouldnt the paint be more consistent than the tint?

Did you use lam resin for patch or sanding. Also you applied a hot coat without sanding in the video?

Can you use cab-o-sil and Q-cell instead of building a dam with tape?

You ever get issues with fisheyes in epoxy hot coats? I seem to always get them no matter how well I clean...

Anybody have the exact name of the resin filler (and the rest of the materials would be helpful).
I want to buy them in a home department store.
