The guy who did my prostate exam was pretty skillful because he had both his hands on my shoulders. Dont know how he did it to this day.

The advise my recruiter gave me was as follows:
1. I've never been sick
2. I've never been to the doctor for anything ever
3. I've never not been in perfect health
4. No clue where those scars came from. I just woke up with them
5. I've never been sad or depressed in any capacity.
6. I've never seen a therapist or any doctor for anything
7. I've never been prescribed medicine for anything.
Honestly just answer their questing as directly as possible, don't elaborate, and keep your answers short.

Went to MEPS in Charlotte, NC in early 1985. There was about 200 or so young men and women there that day. A USMC Gunny met us all in a large room and directed each service candidate to go with their branch group. He called Army first and half the crowd left. Then, Airforce, Coast Guard, and then Navy. I was the only one left standing in the room. He looked at me and said, "Theirs one in every crowd, you come with me." He personally took me to everyplace I needed to be. I had a pretty good day.

Just went through MEP’s, scored a 98 on my ASVAB and a 138 on my GT score, passed medical. This video helped as it just reinforced what my recruiter said. Thank you and God bless 🙌🏻!

I went to MEPS twice. The first time I went for the Marine Corps and completed the process in 2002. On ship day, we got on the bus for the airport but I was called off of the bus and had to visit the Doctor. I was told that I was just medically disqualified because my back was too messed up from a football injury. I was devastated and had no other plan..I was supposed to support my mother and I, as we literally had no money....Marines is what I always wanted to do and be...it was my future

I ended up rushing to take an entrance exam for K-State and enrolled the week classes started.

After a year of chiropractic care and strength building the Corps still would not take me. I walked to the Army recruiters and they accepted my waivers.

I went back to MEPS and completed the process again. The same Doctor who disqualified me reluctantly granted me my waiver and allowed me to enlist. He told me that I would never make it out of basic with my messed up back and of i did that I would never make it.

8 yrs of service, two deployments, PT stud, schools, SF Selection(completed it but non-select ☹) plus so much I proved that fucker wrong! A part me of me still wished I could have dont this with the Marines, however I'm still proud of my service.

I had a doctor that eventually got removed because he was falsely diagnosing people with things they didn't have. His excuse was he personally didn't think they were Army material. Needless to say, I went twice and glad I stuck with it.

Yes to anything you disclosed on your application and your recruiter, NO to everything else they ask you once you get to MEPS. Period

Yes, good cop. Told the folks at MEPS that I smoked a joint when I had my two-month waiver getting in the Navy. They pulled me out to talk to an officer. Told him I smoked one joint. He waivered me into the Navy. Ended up doing twenty in the Navy.

"Does mental illness run in your family?"

"Hmm....well, my great, great, great grandfather changed his name after he killed a Mexican guy with a rock, does that count?"

"Yes and No"

MEPS '07. Got the bad cop treatment. I've never done drugs, but he pretty much told me I was lying. You gotta stay confident with the truth. The truth is your friend.

My son learned the hard way. He unnecessarily went through a tough process for nearly two years because he answered, “yes” to one question. He’s finally shipping off to bootcamp in 5 days.

Don't ever fall asleep at the MEPS. You will be send home. I saw it happened to a few people. That was in Denver.
