How to make old potting soil better than new!

Additional Tip! - check the drainage of your new potting soil. My soil is heavy with perlite so it drains well. If your recycled potting soil doesn't drain well, add 10% Perlite or a 10% mix of peat moss/perlie or coco coir / perlite.

This gave me an idea to just add worm castings to the potting mix.

This is one of the best container gardening soil videos I have seen. You have a very good presentation style that is to the point but thorough. I will subscribe and try you out.

A great way to break down big chunks of material (soil, peat moss, etc.) or a great way to mix soil is to use your drill (hammer setting if available) with a paint mixer.

Second video I have watched. Good videos, especially like your summary and recap at the end.

I personally like to add pieces of wood and bark to my reused potting soil. A lot of the time when I re use potting soil the forest products that help with drainage and aeration have decomposed and now help with holding moisture. So, that's why I add more wood and bark that helps woth drainage. I don't worry about the wood stealing the nitrogen because I also mix some dog fur and bird feathers that'll slowly break down and add nitrogen to the soil.

What soil amendments do you use? Do you use something else?

Love your video Riley! My question is do I need to add any lime for any reason for vegetable plants only. Thanks

Great video Riley! Loved seeing your puppy in the video! I did have a question though. I live in Arizona, and moisture retention is always a huge part of the soil mixture I use. Should I also be refreshing the peat moss or coco coir during this process? What's your experience with that?
