Some ESSENTIAL items for you to have to keep safe in your van

-----------------------------------

Whether you have a T5, VW T5.1, T6, T6.1 or even an older T2, T2.5, T4, the VW Vanlife scene is amazing, with so much help and assistance available for whatever project you wish to attempt. Panel van, Kombi, Converted Camper or VW California Beach or Ocean, enjoy the freedom van life brings.

The @Staycation Lifestyle van conversion is coming along nicely.

I bought a VW Transporter T6 Kombi Highline van 140bhp diesel SWB with tailgate.

Slowly turning it into a camper van / day van with bed. I will also need something for cooking, cooling, sleeping, drinking ?? Choices to be made.

I have lots more to do though, I have a new electrical system, using Victron components and a Lithium LIFEPO4 battery, so I obviously need to install some power devices. I have a new sound system, with Focal speakers and ibus 2.1 amp, Playstation PS4, which will be removable, TV's on headrests.

Lots for me to look forward too and it would be nice to take you on the journey.

Please do let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Vanlife for me is just beginning, it's a great adventure and I'm loving it. 😍

There are many great camper adventures to come

Thanks must go to the following:
Transporter HQ for my tailgate struts
Kiravans for my Swivel Seats

Many choices of places to park up overnight and stay in their carparks including pubs, restaurants, adventure centres and even vineyards and breweries.

Solar panels don’t work when shaded by roof racks

I have a T5 non facelift from 2007. bougth the OSRAM H4-LED update only 100€ (germany) and the additinal Light you get is UNBELIEVABLE. Its absolutely phaenomenal. no other upgrade für the van light. please note th H4 LED are officially allowed ONLY with the Original VW head lights. Third Party Headlight usually have no certification, even though these LEDs would perfectly work.

nice one!! Just FYI on the solar setup, i'd consider moving that roof bar so that the panels have full access.

If only one cell (out of the usual cells) in one of the panels in your solar array is shaded, the overall output of your system can drop by 30-40%. Much like a clogged pipe or kink in your hose, if the current flowing through your solar panels is interrupted by a shaded cell, the end output is throttled.

I’ve got standard halogens on my T6.1 - drove from Cornwall to Scotland overnight and the lights were excellent… didn’t use high beam once.

air suspension... adding complexity and things that go wrong, and go wrong in a big, expensive way...

ThanQ again Fella for a mega informative video!
You have unknowingly helped me realise why my passenger door has been leaking and it was after installing the golf door strip mod thing.. The driver door isn't leaking so I'm wondering if I have to remove the strip or just shorten it at a certain point? ThanX again for your videos 🙏🏽

2:22 door strip. Your videos are great. The VW Golf door close is a lovely solid sound, I wonder if you can advise what the door strip is called and where to buy it, please. Cheers

Brilliant Vid.
Inspiring.
And definitely someone I could listen to all day.
Yes the up grades can be expensive.
But you get the point across that nothing should be an obstacle to getting the job done right!!!

Where did you get the dab aerial? Was it hard to drill through the double skin roof

What wind deflectors are they? Do they require drilling?

Skateboard deck tape good for bumper protection .

Your roof bars are reducing the efficiency of your solar panel. The reduction in efficiency is not proportuanate with the shadow area they are covering, it is much greater than that.

That looks quite high for a 55mm drop !

I haven't got window deflectors, but do see the point. So VW door seals don't work, aerial and the lights don't work, my suspension works well, steel wheels are more reliable. My van came with a tow bar and yes it's useful, indeed hard to fit a decent bike rack without one. Roof mounted solar panel, no, you have to park in the sun...and your van is black..so don't leave northern England. The golden rule is if it works right it looks good, so buy a Vivaro, leave it alone (aside from tow-bar and wind guards) and save all that money. One thing you should know, by fitting a roof rack it will cost you a lot more on French toll roads, where the Class 1 limit is 2 metres, I learned that lesson the hard way.

So you pay 20000 k for a van then spend a small fortune to make it decent.
