Hofner Contemporary Club Bass Guitar

I just got one just like this one only in white. First thing I did was play it. Then I put d’addario flat wounds. raised the pick ups way up. The screws are on the top and bottom. I am a 74 year old bass player. This one and the beatle style violin bass are the same in sound and function. They both have the same scale length. They just look different. I like the Les Paul look. For the price this a great buy. I wish it came with a hard shell case. I bought this online through guitar center, shipped direct to me from the wearhouse. I did not want to go to the guitar center store and buy something that has been hanging and beat up by people with no intention of buying one.

Then I found a new fender 50 amp on OFFER UP with a 12 inch speaker. It is perfect to practice at home with, because it comes with a headphone Jack built in. Now the little woman can sleep, when I am up at some crazy hour playing some noisey thump thump thump. Happy wife, happy life. 🤠

EITHER ONE OF THESE BASES will do the same thing. The only difference is how they look. I had a KAPA bass in 1964. It was totally awesome. It had one Hofner pick up. It was very distinctive in sound and that bass punch bass players strive to make. After a few adjustments on my new Hofner, I am now home with my memories. I never indorse anything on here, until now. For the excellent quality and $400.00 or less, it’s a great buy. And it is very light.

Why stand on stage with a battleship anchor around your neck, when you can play better than you ever imagined with a feather floating on you. Give yourself a chance. It’s all about how you play anyway.

It sounds killer man! Love these hofner basses. I got the ignition club bass in December and I can't put it down! I'll graduate to a contemporary Club one day soon. Thanks for the vid

Been looking at getting a club bass for a while now, not many videos about it. Definitely sounds beastly

Actually my own Club Bass switches in the right way (- or logical way?), as written on the plate:
"Bass On" is on for the neck pickup. "Treble ON" is on for the bridge pickup.
Volume for the neck pu is on the "neck side". Volume for the bridge pu is on the "bridge side".
Are you shure your bass is totally stock?

I have to admit, that my instrument is neither of the "contemporary" line, nor from the "ignition" line. It was quite expensive (black w. gold hardware), came with a flight case and on the back of the neck is written "Genuine Hofner Original".. So it is not a "gold" one either. Very nice bass. I love it!
My point is: There are stock Club basses, where the switches are connected allright.

Did you remove the shield that comes with the Hofner? Was it easy to remove it?

Did you change the strings from the stock? Sounds like flatwound strings.

How are the tuners on the Contemporary. I have the Club Ignition. The tuners are terrible.
