Hofners rule. They are a bit tricky to set up. They are built like acoustics, but they sound and play GREAT, which is why they have stood the test of time. They aren't the best for slapping but they are the best for picking.

Excellent demonstration. I like that it doesn't have the common 'floppy sound' that many non-premium basses have. I don't know if that because it has flat wound strings but this sounds great.

Do you changed something? Or it is just out of the box? Sounds fine to me.

Sounds very good.  I like the tone. Just unable to buy the contemporary version at this point which I like very much.  This one sounds very good as an ignition model and sounds better than the  ignition violin models I have heard on you tube. Does this  model have  the total hollow body?  Have the strings been changed to flat wounds?  It sure sounds good. I am almost sold on it.

@HR- honestly... I don't hear much of a difference. The timbre is still kinda the same, This tone is so limited that it doesn't really matter

Nice, you made that sound awesome, listened to it three times. I have the same bass guitar but I haven't been playing it much because mine came with a bad nut: The slot for the G string is way too close to the bottom of the neck, and the string slips off the frets here and there. Seeing this makes me want to pick it up more often. But I wonder what it can sound like when you swap out the factory pickups for something custom?

Saw a limited edition Beatles bass in music shop recently, they wanted £6, 000 for it; crazy money for such a limited tone, great for sixties covers though.

Well played. Just got my first Hofner (ignition Union Jack 62) and I hate the rounds it came with. Love the hollow sound though (and so does my neck/shoulder!!) I think I might be a new convert!!

Can someone tell me a case for this bass? I was thinking gator foam case, don't want to pay for hofner. It's too expensive.

How did you manage to mix out the thin cheap metallic sound this bass normally has?

I would love a lefty version like they have of the violin model, but to no avail.

Hey thanks for posting this, the bass sounds awesome! I actually just got one myself and I’m having horrible intonation issues so I’m gonna get that sorted out I’m curious if when you got yours you had similar issues?
