My brother’s first inboard ski boat’s trailer had that type of brake. But it had a pin you could put in to lock up the pivot mechanism allowing you to back up. I wonder if that one had it. They are surge brakes. Anyway I would rather have electric brakes on the tow dolly since they are totally adjustable. Take care!

I had no idea they sold tow dollies that don't go backwards until I watched your other video about it.

I am assuming the tow dolly you purchased had surge brakes. I have pulled many trailers with surge brakes before. Under some conditions, we had to disable the surge brakes in order to back the trailer up. I believe there are different strategies on how that is done. The ones that I was around had a pin provided that you could put in place to disable the search brakes on the trailer. Surge brakes were advantageous because not all of our tow vehicles were set up with electric brake wiring. Also, many of the trailers were boat trailers. And it may have been problematic to be backing the electric brakes down into the water when launching a boat.

Best tow dolly hands down is a Kar-Kady S.S..They have king pin steering. Backing up any tow dolly takes a little practice. Been there, Done that...

Have you considered just flat towing the van? Then you don't need a tow dolly. Gota check and see if it will work though, as some vehicles cannot be towed that way.

Instead of renting tow dollies you can get the tow kit for your transit can. Comes with everything to tow behind your motor home

I grew up there in Snyder, Post is one of the places we could go to for beer or Liqours or we could drive west to Big Spring for beer and Liqours. I believe you can get beer in Snyder now but do not think there is liquor there yet
