I have this exact motorcycle hauler for my 2007 Harley Davidson Fatboy FLSTFI that weighs about 850 lbs.
Just did 1500 miles from Casa Grande Arizona to Olympia Washington, over 2 days this month.
I had zero problems.
I did not use the straps that it came with ( junk ) and did make sure to strap the bars to the bumper of my truck.

I have one. I found the lever-lift bar useless, even with a cheater bar. As you say, the friction is incredible. I bought a 2nd scissor jack to place under the chock, and I lift it up and place the pin. I recently bought a seven inch ramp and will try that with the chock in the upright, locked position. People complain about the trans, but I haven't had any problems. There's no pressure on the gears turning in neutral. I strap my handlebars both downward toward the chassis and upward toward the roof bars.

They have different types of that tow dolly, I'm actually looking for one for my motorcycle, but one I can use every Sunday towing my motorcycle to the beach and cruising on the sea wall, thanks for the review and awesome 👌 input ima keep looking.

hitch stabilizers and better tow straps and more toe straps. I'm about to tow one from Los Angeles to Myrtle Beach and this is my plan.

Issue is if your pulling with front tire up and back on pavement output shaft (counter shaft ) isn't getting lubrication and oil pump is only supplying oil to vital components when engine is running Yes, the transmission runs in an oil Bath. But some transmissions or piggyback top over (vertical) bottom not left the right ( horizontal) like most transmissions And to disconnect the chain on an endless chain is uslush Now you need a link and d-shaft remove is out of the question. I will buy a trailer

What about wear and tear on the tires from this thing?

I wonder if you ever try to back your bike into it, so the rear gears are not turning while you tow it

great vid.
okay I'll watch both your vid's on this device,
I do understand your complaints.

I am a DIY fabricator,
I fix and buy a brand-new Motorcycle Receiver Hitch Hauler,
just like the one you got.
I hope I can remember to make a video on the fabrications
changes, which are going be very simple.

My bike is a 2007 Honda spirit, with a 21 inch front wheel,
Google says the weight is 503.5 pounds,

Hope this info helps someone.

Can you pull a bike with a driveshaft instead of a chain? Without hurting the bike?

I wonder if it was fixed in up position. And just design a ramp to clamp on and run motorcycle up to tire holding mechanism. Hmm maybe

All the downsides could be dealt with would just assemble the thing with the bolts and then have a welder weld everything together in the up & closed position.

use a motorcycle lift jack to place the wheel in the chalk.

Thanks for the video, I was about buying one but you changed my mind, trailer is much safer .

What about bike transmission when you tow it?

I built one and towed my 1100 Honda 50 miles. No problem

Might had been a fail for your bike.
You ride a fully loaded bike. But it could work for dirt bikes, scooters and maybe sportsters.
Yes they do have others that might be better for larger bikes. I seen one that has a screw that lifts and lowers it.
Might have the better size and weight capacity.
I got this for my scooter.
I already figured out the grease, and the button bolts. But my scooter is 200 pounds. Only lifting the front is easy. The motor is attached to the rear wheel so I am only lifting maybe 75 pounds.
But don't just discount it for all bikes.
I got the hitch mounted bike rack, that was only ment for dirt bikes. But was advertised for scooters as well. Dragged my frame putting it on and off.
I just stuck a 100 dollar sigh on it and it was taken in a week.
Hope you can try one of the other types and have better success.

It’s a hundred bucks.
The metal alone is $100.
