The Greatest Commander in History: Napoleon Bonaparte

Показать описание
Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821), often known as Napoleon I, was a French military commander and emperor who, in the early 19th century, conquered most of Europe. Napoleon, a Corsican native, advanced quickly through the military ranks during the French Revolution (1789-1799). He declared himself emperor in 1804 after capturing governmental control of France in a coup d'état in 1799.
Napoleon was a cunning, aspirational, and expert military strategist who successfully fought war against several alliances of European nations and grew his empire. Napoleon did, however, quit the throne two years after a catastrophic French invasion of Russia in 1812 and was banished to the island of Elba. During his Hundred Days war in 1815, he briefly regained control.
He abdicated once more and was banished to the isolated island of Saint Helena, where he passed away at the age of 51, following a humiliating defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.
