As a theatre kid, I think it’s so disrespectful to go somewhere public and start performing when no one asked for it. Especially in a restaurant. My theatre group just hosts our own parties at our own houses out of curtsy to people just trying to enjoy their dinner💀

As a musical theater kid who's literally doing Heathers right now, I find the idea of doing pizza parties at restaurants such a stupid idea. I used to do community theater and we would just have it at the director's house. I also noticed that most theater kids who I interacted with were just neurodivergent kids trying to find a community

I am a theatre kid myself, having been in several productions, but I think there are two types of theatre kids. 1: The obnoxious one, won't stop singing, bragging about roles, doing warm-ups when not needed (most of the time off pitch), and only got the role because they look good. 2: The mostly quiet one, respects the public, not always happy with the role they got but grows to like it, and doesn't usually get big roles even if they are very good. I can agree with most of the points you are making because I've seen people like the first example and they scare the fuck out of me.

As someone who was trained in classical voice, theater kids stress me out... The hyperventilating... The impending nodes... The social politics... It's all too much lol.

I'm so incredibly glad that my friends and i never did any of our theatre shit in public spaces. We would belt songs in the car and do dance numbers from past shows when hanging out at each other's houses, but NEVER in a Denny's. I think it's cuz we all had anxiety.

i was a theatre kid but i just loved the plays more than anything. the musicals were always filled with kids like this who were so dramatic about cast lists and all that!! it became so draining worrying about that so i just stuck to plays and did tech theatre for the musicals :)
