David Ortiz defeated my Cardinals by himself that year they really had no answers for him, clutch hits after clutch hits.

It's part of the catchers job to protect the Ump. Molina just goes the extra mile. He's a cool ass dude! Nothing but respect!

I had to rewind the video and pause it when it flashed Ortizes World Series stats. .733 Ave. 2 HR 6 RBIs Wow!

To me, this seems like it would the greatest respect.

A gold glove and possibly the greatest modern, catcher talking to a famously amazing ump about how BAMF you are.

The debate is beginning on who's the better DH, David Ortiz or Edgar Martinez.... having watched both extensively (Being a fan of both the Mariners and Red Sox since the late 90s) its a tough choice... its hard to look back and remember everything Edgar did being as he retired almost 10 years ago.

Edgar was one of the best hitters of his time, he had a great eye at the plate and enough power to hurt any pitcher, he has his clutch moments in his career (I.E. 1995 ALDS referred to as "The Double") and he was a major contributor to a Seattle team that in 2001 clinched a tough ALW division with a record tying 116 wins. He has a few batting titles and a few play off games.

Ortiz is most notable for being the most clutch player in baseball, hard to deny when he had 8 career walk off home runs before 2006 (just 3 years after his debut as a Red Sox 1B/DH/) but beyond the thrilling back to back walk-off against the Yankees in the ALCS of 2004, Ortiz has, surprisingly, been one of the most consistent power hitters of the last 10 years. When he was younger, Ortiz would turn in 40+ HR a season and with the Sox that surrounded him, drive in 130+ runs. But more impressively, as he ages Ortiz has grown as a hitter, he not just a 30 home run guy but his AVG usually stays around .300

So the debate comes then... which was better... honestly i this Ortiz meant more to the Red Sox than Edgar ever did to the Mariners, but its hard to say.

Guys I hear you, but Ortiz has been tested over 200 times for PE's since 2004 without a single affirmative result. The 2003 list was not only a sketchy unofficial and undisclosed affair, but included all kinds of false positives including those pertaining to over-the-counter supplements, which he did admit to using in his earlier days. There's really no substance to the allegations, however, the media has blown them up and out of proportion. The only other factor that would make one think he used steroids is his great performance, which is very impressive, but not necesserilly indicative of cheating. Great athletes exist. I don't really know if he took them, nobody does, but I think more information is needed before assumptions can be made.

As a Cardinals fan, I have to say that it wasn't fun to watch at the time... It was pretty awesome though. He was unstoppable during that series.

Joyce probably best umpire but will be remembered for messing up a perfect game

As a Cardinals fan, no he wasn't fun to watch that series... Lol

If our pitchers would have just *WALKED* that scary SOB when he came to bat, rather than risking pitching to him, we could have won the series. Even if that meant walking in a run. Better that we walk in a single run than let Ortiz hit in three.

I think the convo was the other way around. I think Molina said "he's fun to watch" and Joyce said everything else. You can hear a slight accent on the "watch"
