As a computer newb, changing my laptop's single ssd for a larger capacity drive seemed monumental and stressful.

Not only was this slick and well edited, it was clear and not a single step was missed.
Liked and subscribed. THANK YOU

really great work, thanks for the effort put in this video, one advice, timestamps and keep the laptop disassembly, so people can skip if they want.
Thank you and keep up the good work

Sol, awesome video. I particularly appreciated how you've used freeware for all of this and stepped through using it - some of the apps look Linux based so make me a bit nervous to take a crack at witn my exclusively Windows background, but once you use them, it' pretty clear they're just utilities and not scary.

would you be able to wipe the original 512gb ssd and put it in the second slot as even more storage space ? if so ? what would you call that process so i can do more research on how to achieve that outcome ?

Hello Sol Does Tech. I have managed to fix it all, I managed to clone and move partitions. The gparted software wasn’t working for me so I used a different software however even before this I was running into one major issue. The original SSD works fine, no issues, after cloning, the new SSD has problems with powering off. So it turns off when I hold the power button, however when I shut down through windows, the laptop says it’s shutting down, few seconds later, it seems to have restarted instead. I do want to wipe my old hard drive but I can see that there are definitely going to be issues in the future so I’ll probably keep that one too but use this ssd as my main one to avoid issues, I still would like a fix for the shut down problem if possible

Anther great video. I was just asking for a tutorial on this, and here you've made it already! I was just wondering, after doing all this, would it be ok to add another SSD in the second position as expanded storage? Would that mess anything in the process up?

Also, any updates, bios or anything, would that mess up anything with the laptop?

Thank you so much!

Hello, how are you? I have an Asus ROG strix G15, which came with 1TB storage, I bought additional two terabytes today, so I put that ssd in and used a crucial tool to clone it into the new ssd, then I changed the boot order to the new ssd, as my plan is to use the old one for additional storage of files, now this is where I ran into a problem, if I try booting from my old ssd, it works completely fine, however when I boot from the new ssd, it runs into a black screen, I personally thought it was an issue with display, so I did fn+display button, and a white bar on the right popped up then disappeared, so now I think it’s a problem with windows itself in the clone, thing is I tried cloning 3 times and ran into the same issue, so my next plan is to use a different software if reinstalling windows doesn’t work on this, of course I want to keep my apps so if this works I know I can use a windows reinstall as my final option but do you have any ideas or suggestions on how I can go about this, as I really don’t want to end up losing my software

Thank you for the video. It is all great except I do not have two slots for two SSD. I don't know what to do to copy over the data from the one SSD to the other without having the second slot. Do you have any kind of instructions for something like that?

Thanks for the tutorial I have successfully cloned my new ssd it really helps in installing my new 1tb ssd without any hassle. But my 1tb volume is name D and I cannot change the old ssd volume name which is still C. I want to use the old ssd 512gb as secondary drive. Is it OK if I format the old ssd and erase all datas.

Hi, what temperature do you have on that 970 evo plus?
Don't you need a heatsink on that?
I consider upgrading my default ssd, and I heard that 970 has a high temperature compared to other ssd.
Also what do you think about
Kingston KC3000 1TB M.2
I know it can't be as fast as specification said on the g15 ae, but I can use it in the future laptop when I change the current one(probably in 3/4 years).

Hi there, I am very grateful for your video. I am installing a 4tb ssd on my ASUS ROG G1512_2nd2LW. I am using your guide to clone my 1TB C:Drive to my 4tb D:Drive. When I am using Clonezilla, the disk source that is used shows only the empty 4TB D:Drive. Do you have any suggestions on how to show the source drive for C:Drive? Thanks
