Can you layer kick and snare on one track with digitone?

One question: at 1:35, you show your kick/snare track, with both sounds playing at the same time on steps 5 and 13. How do you put two different sounds on the same step? (the same happens at 1:58, on track 2!)

When I put a trig on step 1 with the track in arp mode, the track only plays on step 1, not on the other 15 steps. But if I hold down a trig button, the arp plays all the way through as expected. What am I missing?

Cant stand the snares on DN (obviously just my taste) / maybe bc id love to figure out how to make some industrial snares... Otherwise really great tips!
