“Diwali or Deepavali, is the Hindu Festival of Light,” Yale University Hindu Chaplain Asha Shipman told Inside Edition Digital. The holiday falls in late October or early November, according to the Hindu lunar calendar. “It signifies victory of good over evil, of knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair,” said Shipman. It’s considered “the biggest and grandest holiday in the very long list of holidays that make up the Hindu calendar,” said Princeton’s Hindu Chaplain, Vineet Chander. #InsideEdition

As a Christian from S.Korea, I like the symbolic meaning of the holiday. “Victory of good over evil, of knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair" 🙏🔥

I’m a British Nepali teenager and I celebrated Diwail yesterday. Since I was brought up in a western country, I don’t know much about my religion and culture. I decided to educate myself this year.

Diwali is celebrated on the darkest night of the year.
It is said victory of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance as Lord Rama returns to Ayodhya & is crowned as the King of Kosala after living in exile for 14 years in which he defeated the demon king Ravana.

My school's Deepavali tradition - The schedule will include 1 or 2 days of announced holidays for Deepavali. 2 weeks before the festival, principal will ask in morning assembly, do you want an additional day of holiday. We'll all shout "YES", she will keep saying, "not loud enough", and after a couple of minutes - Loud enough, 2 more days of holidays.. enjoy...

My Deepavali holidays will start with taking last year's left over crackers from the loft, taking my bicycle looking for best crackers deals around my home, bargaining with sellers for purchasing in bulk(with friends), at last bringing home crackers to celebrate the festival, with home made sweets and savories. I miss those days now...

Happy Deepavali everyone..
