How To Mute Parts of an Audio Clip In Audacity - 1 Minute Tutorial

NOTE: Please make a duplicate if you intend to use the clip at a later stage. Audacity applies the changes immediately. I always make duplicates of audio I am working on just in case i stuff something up.

This is just a quick one around how to mute audio tracks on Audacity. This is especially important when trying to edit video or podcast clips.

I have been searching for hours on the net trying to figure out how to completely mute an audio file for a project I am working on. I am doing Batch audio files with over 50+ files each and audacity would not let me simply export muted clips. I did your method with CTRL + A and chose the button "Silence Audio Section" and it worked flawlessly. Thank you!

For me though I want to be able to mute parts and then unmute again.... it seems it just deletes those parts not just muting.
