I can really picture this as two parts of a song: you start with the 6 string part as a nice intro piece, and later on you play the 8 string part to give the riff a bit more presence thanks to the low bass notes. Maybe even play the 6 string part with a clean tone, so the change from one to the other hits even harder.

But if I had to choose only one, 8 string will always have my vote, because those low notes sound amazing to me.

They actually sound great together because your getting those low's of a bass with the 8 and the crispiness of the 6 string as well, both guitars have totally different tones and sound great together, for live situation I'd go with the 8 unless you had a bass player then I'd go with the 6.

I love listening to this with high quality studio monitors. You can literally hear how perfect the playing is along with the little "humanisms" that go with it!

the combination really just supports the underlying chords that are played as rhythm under the lead of the 6 string. they both support each other really well and show that you can combine a 6 and an 8 string if you wanted.

I think both should co exist! I like both versions for different reasons.
The 6 string makes those chords sound amazing and the 8 string makes the chuggs sound powerful and provide more dynamics

i prefer the 8 string but nothing sounds better than when you have 2 guitar tracks layed over each other. my favorite piece of yours that emphasizes this is you djent 2020 the rhythm in that is incredible and so are the melodic phrases and definitely one of my favorite 8 string pieces ever
