Greta Thunberg at Davos 2020: Divest From Fossil Fuels

Greta Thunberg, who inspired a global movement of school strikes for climate action, spoke bluntly to the world leaders gathered at the 2020 World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos. Her message: stop funding fossil fuel exploration, immediately end all fossil fuel subsidies, and immediately and completely divest from fossil fuels.

In my country we have plenty of rain, poor roads and poverty. Our priority is to have jobs so we can eat 2 to 3 times a day, pay the rent, pay the school tuition, buy medicine and hopefully have a better life. We have no time to bother about climate change, whatever that may be.

Greta is right on the money. But even a 50% reduction by 2030 is not enough. We have delayed too long. The young have no money, and it takes money to make the change. It is time for the boomers to spend their money becoming carbon neutral as fast as possible. Hey, with solar PV, there is an opportunity to be carbon neutral, and save money.
