I’m a contractor and appreciate the video. Only thing we do a little differently is to add a quality sealant like SIKA behind the first layer of the wood buck where it contacts the concrete. Helps to ensure against water permeation

If you live in a colder area like I do... Our procedure is to install a weeping tile to the footing and drain water away from the foundation. This prevents "hydrostatic pressure" the leading cause of concrete cracks in basements.

I did an egress window myself, the digging was the hardest work. I have concrete block and it was easy to cut with just a masonry blade on a cheap circular saw (doing cuts on both sides). Lots of dust so I used plastic to try to seal in the space and a fan blowing out, but with a respirator it wasn't bad.

My costs were just some pressured treated lumber, a couple masonry blades, the new egress window well, some decorative gravel, and the window...a few hundred dollars total.

This is sick! Made it all look super easy.

Straight forward footage! Nice job! Thank you for sharing! But you could have done the entire thing by yourself using a grinder with a 5” masonry blade!!!

I installed one of those plastic segmented walls 12 years ago and it is collapsing inward. Am replacing with a 16 gauge steel.

Always install drain tile for window egresses.

Are you sure that window meets IRC building code requirements for an egress window? You need a 20” wide clear opening and 5 SF. That looks narrow. You also need a 36” x 36” clear area outside uninhibited by the window or other obstructions, which is why an inside swing is used with in-swing hinges.

(Joan here). I thought wood directly in contact with concrete was a problem - could have rotted out window frames, especially given that the window is below ground level.

They did not use weather strips in the outside of windows for water not to get in

the guy cutting the concrete should have used more water on the blade to supress the dust, that is going right through your home. That's really poor. Also If you have a weeping tile going around the exterior of your home we bring up a vertical weeping tile in the window well that is connected to the horizontal weeping tile. Hope this helps. It eliminates any pooling water in the window well.

Window flashing is so overrated, especially for windows below grade that will rarely if ever see any sort of moisture.

My concern would be heavy rain, you might end up with an aquarium 😮

Looks great, you guys made it look easy! But why not use a heavy bead of silicon for sealing/bonding the board to the foundation before securing it down? Seems like an obvious thing to do to help eliminate the chance of infiltration?

I would just want a door. Is it harder? more expensive?

Just for the natural light alone it is worth it.
