Has anyone looked into the effects of putting gallons of surfactants into the waters?

This kind of project can cause extensive damage to native species that have already adapted to the new environment. I have witnessed a similar project in The Ojibway nature reserve in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Before that, the pond and the surrounding area has a large population of black legged meadow katydids(which is native to our area). The second year after the spray, the healthy population of black legged meadow katydids were almost wiped out. I would imagine many other native species were also negatively affected by this kind of project. As much as we don't like it, Phragmites are here to stay, there's little we can do to stop that. In an effort to control their growth, we are doing more harm than good to the eco system.
