The amount of struggle the booster try to stay on course can be seen by the amount of tilting by the grid fins in a rapid succession and that 3 launches in under a year wowie

If I were more engineer-minded with more moolah, I most possibly would construct a vertical thin-lined structure to the troposphere, fill it with water and submerge the payloads to the top. Let gravity do the work.

Cool we sent a ballistic missile strike against the fish

The genius behind designing something like this is hard to even fathom.

If I had to guess, those 2 raceways running up the bottom of the booster led to some funky roll-yaw coupling as the booster hit thicker air

Who is after booster and starship landing? 👇

the peeling paint, the cracks in the corner and in general the stress on the grid fins are clearly visible in the video.

Ouch - it looks like at least two of the engines they tried lighting either failed or shut down. They hit the surface of the ocean at transonic speeds; Mach 0.9 by my math.

Good thing that the SpaceX engineers and flight control team didn’t listen to Elon’s idea of trying to use the launch tower’s arms to catch it. If something the size of a skyscraper hit the pad faster than the top speed of a commercial airliner… yeah, let’s just say it’d make the crater that nearly condemned the structure after IFT-1 look like a small dent in comparison. The entire pad would have been obliterated.

Wonder if a SX drone was around to record the impact

i know its just a graphic at the bottom.... but did the engines not light becuase they were out of fuel?

Why aren't they belly flopping the Booster as well to slow down?
