Why is Light the Fastest Thing?

Light is the only thing we've observed to travel at the speed of light, though there are some theoretical particles that do the same... But why does it go so fast? and why can't everything go that fast? Watch to find out.

It's a really cool to think that how much science progresses. Since this video came out, we observed gravitational waves. And since it matches predicted patterns, it's pretty safe to say that it goes at the speed of the light too.

The hamster reaction accurately resembles how I feel every time.

I leaned more from you in a few minutes than in college and high school combined

Great video as always, just one question: You say you would feel gravity stronger when getting closer to the speed of light. Is that really the case? Isn't just only relative mass increasing which means you have to put in more and more energy to further accelerate and it would have no effect on how you experience gravity?

Wow, I got this channel recommended only a few weeks ago and did not realize that it exist for seven years already. I have a lot of catching up to do. Because so far every video was worth it.

My name is barry allan. And I am the fastest man alive. When I was little my mother was killed by the impossible... then an accident made me the impossible. With the help my acceleromatic and my friends I fight crime....

The way I see it is that particles can only have a certain amount of motion, and some of it is already tied up in rotation and orbit. And that's why time dilation and flattening occur, those motions must be converted into linear motion. This becomes harder and harder which causes greater inertia.

This is something awesomely explained, also easy to understand :D!

Thanks for explaining this. I always had trouble with it because I had trouble thinking about something that is massless. I always pictured photons as something that is tangible.

I truly love your videos!! Each one makes me a little bit crazier!!
I love how you run! With the acceler-o-matic I will make a race between Nerd Clone and Spinning Clone (who is my favorite one), they are sooo awesome. Clones!

Gluons aren't just "theoretical" particles insinuating that we haven't detected them before. They are fundamental to the standard model and have been detected by many experiments. For example CERN is now trying to detect quark gluon plasma which is a state of matter in which nuclei have split into their constituent parts, quarks (matter particles) and gluons (force carrying particles).

Wonderful way to learn about science for those of us who are not mathematically inclined. I am from the field of Sanskrit studies, so I use this channel to help contemplate formless Divinity and the nature of the Universe. I know the warnings about comparing science and metaphysics, but that's how it is!

If I got acceleromatic, I would take it and race with Usain Bolt! Loved your video!

"...and the speed of light would be 1. In fact, that's what most physicists working with this stuff actually do."
.
THANK YOU. I had a bar discussion where I showed on a napkin that the Lorentz factor could be derived from the Pythagorean theorem, and they both told me I wasn't allowed to use 1. I got hopping mad. I actually did a hop at one point. In the standard Lorentz calculation, this is side-stepped because velocity^2 is divided by C^2 to produce a unitless fraction with a maximum value of 1. But on my napkin, I just wanted the hypotenuse of my triangle in 4D spacetime to always be 1. I even said, "It's one light-year per year! There you go!" and they weren't having it.
.
You can see why I hopped. After all, using 1 for C still got me the Lorentz factor formula. I even asked, "Do you think that's a coincidence? Or maybe what I'm doing is OK!" One of them is, like, way into physics. Tells me about virtual particles, zero point energy, stuff like that. Way over my head. So I thought maybe _I_ might be the one who needed to check into the The Science Asylum for an assessment. Maybe he was just having an off day.

It seems to take other scientists an hour and a half to explain the speed of light. This guy just did it in 3 minutes. Thanks!

Dr. Lucid, your book "Advanced Theoretical Physics" is truly a masterpiece! Extremely elaborated and accurate in almost every aspect it's the book every scientist must have within his grasp
